  • Disobedience values comfort over God’s command (vv. 7-9)
Saul’s Deception (vv. 10-21)
  • Deception exalts self (v. 12)
  • Deception justifies self (vv. 13-14, 20)
  • Deception blames others (vv. 15, 21)
Saul’s Destruction (vv. 22-35)

Samuel’s Rebuke

  • Destruction practices empty religion, not true worship (vv. 22-23)
  • Destruction fears man, not God (vv. 24-25, 30)

God’s rejection

  • Saul lost his kingship (vv. 26-28)
  • Saul lost his relationship with the prophet (vv. 34-35)
